K-W Property A Real Bargain
The Kitchener-Waterloo area in south central Ontario is among the fastest expanding and most economically solid parts of Canada. Kitchener is the biggest community in the Regional municipality and the seat of the Waterloo Regional Municipality. In 2006 the Kitchener's population was 204,6682. The City of Waterloo situated right next to Kitchener has has just under 100,000 residents. In addition Waterloo has in excess of 20,000 temporary resident post-secondary students attending its universities and regional colleges. The two cities actually abut each other and collectively are typically called Kitchener-Waterloo or K-W.
Cambridge, the other major city in the area is found in the south eastern part of the region with a population of right around 120,000. Cambridge was formed in 1973 with the merging of the municipalities of Galt, Preston, Hespeler and Blair. Many local residents resisted this amalgamation, considering it a "shotgun marriage" foisted upon them by the Ontario provincial government.
In the first decade of the new millenium The Region of Waterloo is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing areas in Canada with some of the best agricultural land in North America, two highly regarded Universities, a very stable financial and insurance sector, numerous manufacturing plants and a rapidly expanding high tech sector centered around Research in Motion and other spinoff companies from the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University.
People settling in the Waterloo Region will find excellent job opportunities, an exciting and varied cultural life, and unmatched educational facilities. K-W real estate is also considerably less expensive than similar properties in other Ontario cities such as Toronto or Ottawa.
The fact is, residents and businesses in Waterloo Region have an enviable combination. They have the more friendly and pleasant atmosphere found in a smaller urban centre while being ideally situated to take advantage of the amenities of larger cities such as Toronto, Mississauga, London and Detroit.
